Position Description:

We are seeking a seasoned professional that desires a stable, rewarding career where they can apply their skillset and experiences to support strong tax compliance deliverables and seek continuous improvements initiatives across applicable tax processes.

This role performs a wide variety of domestic tax compliance functions for Crane Co. and Subsidiaries for a $3 billion-dollar diversified manufacturer of highly engineered industrial products. This role will be part of the Executive Office and works with a small, dynamic and professional group who values teamwork and collaboration. Crane uses a comprehensive set of business processes and operational excellence tools that we call the Crane Business System to drive continuous improvement throughout our businesses.


The role is located in our corporate office in Stamford, Connecticut, with easy access to I-95 and Metro North Railroad (remote work available in current Covid environment). The corporate office is a small, dynamic group who works closely as a team and is looking for people who can work together effectively


A. Assist with the preparation of the U.S. Federal consolidated corporate income tax return and related forms and schedules.

B. Prepare separate company, unitary, and combined state income tax returns.

C. Prepare federal, state and local tax return extension and estimated tax forms and payments.

D. Assist with the quarterly and year-end domestic tax provision in accordance with ASC 740.

E. Assist with the administration of OneSource tax calendar.

F. Correspondences/responses to tax notices and tax audit assistance.

G. Perform various domestic federal and state tax projects as assigned.

H. Identify process improvements and propose ideas for streamlining processes and reporting procedures.

I. Establish and maintain relationships with various personnel at the Executive Office, including Accounting, Treasury, Legal, Human Resources and finance personnel at the business unit locations.


A. 4+ years of experience in public or private accounting experience

B. Bachelor's degree in accounting.

C. Proficient using Microsoft Office, tax and accounting software to accomplish tasks. Prior experience with Thomson Reuter's suite of tax products, and HFM preferred, but not required.

D. Strong analytical, technology focused, interpersonal, oral/written communication and project management skills.

E. Able to work alone and as part of a team. Expresses one's ideas and actively participates in group discussions.

F. Organized and able to meet deadlines, including working overtime when required.
