February 13, 2024 Position Title: Structural Engineer Applicants MUST be able to conduct site visits in and around Ithaca, NY Taitem Engineering has an opening for a Structural Engineer to join its Design Department. The successful candidate will focus on structural design for a range of buildings, including single-family residential, multifamily, and commercial. This job position also provides the opportunity to work on energy efficiency projects in Taitem's Energy and Sustainability Department and to learn from Taitem's experienced staff of design engineers who are eager to share their knowledge of the field. Responsibilities The individual will work as a part of Taitem's design team to bring projects to successful completion. Work tasks may include: Structural evaluation of existing buildings Structural design for new construction Conducting structural special inspections during construction Drafting in AutoCAD; building information modeling in Revit Writing specifications Communicating with internal and external team members Communicating with clients including building owners, contractors, and developers Desired Skills and Qualifications: 0-5 years experience in structural engineering Comfortable performing site visits Ability to manage projects from start to finish including communicating with clients Experience in wood construction Experience with AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit Knowledge of building codes and standards Good communication skills, including speaking, listening, and writing Interest in energy-efficient technologies and sustainable design Familiarity with building construction and the construction trades Detail oriented; dedicated to quality work Taitem supports a flexible work environment, with a combination of in-office, work-from-home, and on-site work. The successful candidate must, however, be able to meet with project stakeholders and conduct site visits and inspections at project sites in Ithaca and surrounding areas. Your work schedule and location will be decided on by you and your supervisors. This position is part-time to full-time.
