Sr. Software Engineering Manager, User Interfaces About the team What this team is about, and the challenges you will tackle: Our team's mission is to build cutting-edge advertising technology to support and help grow sustainable advertising business. We own server technologies, data, cloud services, and test engineering for advertising. Roku pioneered TV streaming and continues to innovate and lead the industry. The Roku Channel has us well-positioned to help shape the future of streaming. Continued success relies on investing in Advertising Engineering. In this role you will work as a key leader on the Customer Interface team. In this high-profile role, you will oversee a team of front-end, full-stack and UX engineers across multiple geographical locations. You will be responsible for the design and development of our best-in-class suite of customer facing web applications driving key ad-tech components such as the Demand Side Platform, Data Management Platform and Forecasting toolsets. We operate on a modern tech stack including Angular, React, Ruby, PostgreSQL, Redis, Elastic search, AWS and Docker. The ideal candidate will have endless curiosity and can pair a global mindset with locally relevant execution. You should be a gritty problem solver and self-starter who can drive programs with the product and commercial teams within Roku and across external strategic partner organizations. The successful candidate will display a balance of hard and soft skills, including the ability to respond quickly to changing business needs. The person in this role will: Lead a large, always growing, team of user interface engineers Work cross-functionally with product management, other engineering teams and end users to create exceptional user experiences Build consensus for key architecture decisions in the platform from the hardware up Provide technical leadership, guidance and support to team members Deliver constant value back to the business in a highly agile team approaching continuous deployment Build up the team by hiring world-class engineering talent and grooming existing team members Manage stakeholder relationships, develop a good understanding of business needs and build domain knowledge in ad-tech Here's what we are looking for: Background in computer science or similar quantitative field 10+ years of progressive experience designing, implementing and maintaining large scale web applications 8+ years of experience leading technical teams Experience with cloud technology, AWS preferred Knowledge of dev ops patterns, paradigms and tooling Significant experience hiring and scaling engineering teams over time A history of working with geographically distributed teams including contractors Experience managing complex cross-functional projects Fiercely collaborative: strong opinions, held loosely Intrinsically motivated, independent thinker and has the ability to cope well with ambiguity and change Subject matter expertise in ad-tech a huge plus BS in CSE or equivalent The Roku culture Roku is a great place for people who want to work in a fast-paced environment where everyone is focused on the company's success rather than their own.
