Job Description

In this role, you will be responsible for implementation of site wide initiatives. This role is critical to the success of the cybersecurity, alarm management process, Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), and other control system related activities for the entire facility. This position will provide leadership and innovation to ensure that these initiatives are consistently implemented on all DCS and PLC systems (Foxboro, Delta V, Triconex). Communication and teamwork with various levels of the organization, including area process control engineers, is necessary to ensure targets are met and all initiatives and activities are properly managed.

Alarm Management

  • Lead the alarm management process at the site.
  • Responsible for the Port Neches site alarm management procedure.
  • Assist area Process Control Engineers and Manufacturing Information System personnel with implementation.
  • Proficiency in alarm management standards, ISA 18.2, IEC 62443 / ISA 99 & EEMUA 191, with the ability to apply them in petrochemical applications.

System Architecture

  • Develop and implement facility control and automation solutions.
  • Responsible for system architecture and automation network drawings.
  • Responsible for System Cyber Security. Having a GICSP/CISSP or equivalent as a preferred certification for cyber security.
  • Responsible for network management.
  • Responsible for identifying and developing conceptual scopes for improvements in plant process control systems.
  • Responsible to act as a project team member as required.

SIS And Other PSM Activities

  • Good knowledge of process hazards and associated safeguards i.e. process control, safety instrumented functions, alarms, and operator response.
  • Provide design engineering support for projects.
  • Responsible for developing scope of work details for instrument and electrical discipline.
  • Awareness of importance of instrumented systems used as Independent Protection Layers (IPLs).
  • Participates in the Process Safety Engineering Team to effectively manage the Facilitys SIS safety life cycle phases. Proficiency in SIF Design and SIL implementation as well as working knowledge and proficient of IEC 61511.
  • Develop SIS and DCS Scope documents as necessary for instrumented IPLs.
  • Perform and oversee the completion of IPL Verifications as required.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Essential functions require presence in the workplace on a regular basis and an ability to work extra hours if needed. If applicable, ability to work overtime may be needed to ensure required staffing capacity to meet daily production objectives.
  • Work collaboratively with team members with different backgrounds and perspectives.
  • Assist other employees in accomplishments of Indorama company goals. Follows instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
  • Participate in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives as set forth by the company.
  • Participate in and complete company-required training programs.



  • BS Degree in Engineering and 5+ years of operations/process control experience in the petrochemical or refining industry, or 10+ years of experience in Process Control Engineering.
  • Industrial control system DCS and PLC configuration experience preferred.
  • Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM).
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of an organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • Strong engineering, technology, and business acumen to bring value to business team.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop engineering solutions.
  • Foxboro I/A, Emerson DeltaV, and Triconex PLC experience desired.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have a level of proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft programs.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
