This is a highly visible and critical position reporting directly to the Vice President of Indirect Taxes and located at our corporate headquarters. It will be responsible for the strategic direction and day to day leadership and management of a 35-person global indirect tax team. This position will be a key role within the overall succession plans for the indirect tax department and will have the time and opportunity to learn the business and leverage the vast experience and expertise of the current team.
This is not a compliance role. Although it is ultimately responsible for the global indirect tax compliance of the Company, its primary responsibilities are to be a strategic business partner to the Company's divisions, lead and drive change including data, systems, and processes, and identify and manage risk.
The indirect tax team is a key liaison and partner to the Company's commercial and business teams and is involved from Quote to Cash, and Procurement to Sale, and not just compliance. This is a leadership position and will work directly with various members of the business units, finance, IT, corporate income tax, and legal teams to find and implement solutions, provide clear guidance, direction, and advice, identify and manage risk and controversy, and lead the team.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Strategic business partner to the Company's 3 divisions as well as to the Finance, Corporate Income Tax, and Legal teams
Partner with the Director of Indirect Taxes - EMEA and Senior Manager, Indirect Taxes - North America to ensure a cohesive and coordinated approach to policy, risk and risk management, balance sheet management, communication and metrics, and worldwide compliance.
Identify, lead, and drive data and technology improvements, process improvements and best practices
Observe, learn, understand - and then drive change and efficiencies.
Partner with the VP of Indirect Tax, Director of Indirect Tax - EMEA, and SVP of Global Tax to build a best-in-class department including people, process, data, and technology
Evaluate and implement 3rd party technology solutions for indirect tax compliance
Evaluate and implement location strategies for the worldwide indirect tax team
Evaluate and implement appropriate operating models (in-source, outsource, co-source)

10+ years of experience managing and leading an indirect tax team or department
Excellent analytic and systems skills and abilities and research skills
Oil and Gas/Energy experience or comparable experiences with a heavily regulated industry and worldwide presence
