Covanta Onondaga Maintenance Electrician

We seek a dedicated Maintenance Electrician who will safely work as part of a team to maintain, diagnose, install, and repair all types of power plant & fuel processing equipment. Must be able to communicate well with groups or individuals to solve problems. The candidate must be a self-starter and be able to prioritize work based on plant production requirements. They must work independently with minimal assistance and understand and follow all safety procedures relating to the plant and electrical equipment. The Maintenance Electrician will participate in daily preventative, scheduled, and corrective maintenance activities safely, effectively, and timely as needed in an electrical generation facility. Specific duties include but are not limited to inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of electrical equipment. Running / replacing conduit and pulling wire. This Energy from Waste facility has equipment from 110V-115KV; most facility equipment is operating at 480V. Facility equipment includes, but is not limited to hydraulics, fans, pumps, conveyors, cranes, and low-voltage control systems

To be considered for this position you must have 5 years hands-on experience in the repair and maintenance of mechanical process and electrical equipment. The candidate must be able to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics; as well as manufacturers documentation; to troubleshoot and repair facility equipment and systems. The successful candidate will be a safety conscious team player that takes pride in their work and workplace. They will work to learn new skills and be open to occasional cross discipline activities to progress the team goals.

Must be willing to be trained to operate equipment with telescoping boom and scissor lift, and other mobile equipment.

Must be able to work overtime and respond to call-ins to support plant operations as needed, including nights, weekends, and holidays. May be required to perform extensive overtime hours during planned and unplanned maintenance.

Must be able to work in all locations within the plant, under extremes of hot and cold, and in areas of dust, noise, and wet conditions. Must be able to climb ladders to access equipment and work from heights using fall protection, lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs., and other manual labor, including pushing, pulling, sweeping, and shoveling. The following physical demands are representative of those required to be able to perform the essential functions of the job: Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb ladders, work at elevations, qualify for confined space entry, use hands for tools/touch, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch and be able to wear a full-face respirator.

Experience with PC applications (Windows, Excel, Word, and CMMS systems), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Variable Frequency Drives (VFD). The ability to weld is also desirable.
