Due to continued growth, TRC Field Services (FSV) is seeking more Lead orSenior Commissioning Engineers to support our Client Teams in Orlando and surrounding areas in FL (including Tampa). Responsibilities Plan, coordinate, perform and document all commissioning activities (pre-commissioning, through construction, testing & commissioning, energization & project close out) of various utility substation protection (including testing & commissioning of protective relays), control and power circuits in accordance with TRC's and Client's requirements, budgets, schedules Review of wiring diagrams, schematics, engineering documents in advance of projects and outages Provide oversite of Contractions and, as needed, Perform trouble-shooting and problem analysis associated with protection and control systems and utility substation equipment, including but not limited to: Application Errors and Omissions, Drawing Errors and Omissions, Wiring Errors and Omissions, Settings Errors and Omissions, Equipment Malfunctions, Questionable Apparatus Test Results, Battery Ground Faults Participate in project meetings including but not limited to: kickoff meetings, planning meetings, progress meetings, lessons learned meetings. Prepare detailed daily, weekly, and project completion reports and documentation that includes project progress, issues or problems, recommendations, test results and analyses Assist in developing project specific testing and commissioning plans, energization plans, or any other assigned project specific documentation Identify risks and associated mitigation techniques on utility systems and equipment. Develop a Site Risk Assessment to document all high risk construction and commissioning activities and to formalize the processes of circuit isolation and restoration in a manner that ensures no unintended operations of station equipment and protection systems and personnel safety Make certain all applicable tests and/or commissioning activities are performed on every piece of equipment or system in accordance with planning and project documents, as well as all test results are acceptable and permanently recorded, filed and distributed properly Develop detailed test reports of various types of electrical equipment. Review and approve detailed test reports of various types of electrical equipment A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Electrical or Power Systems preferred) from an accredited school or University and/or Apprentice Journeyman Electrician Program Completion or Army Prime Power Production or Navy Nuclear Programs with 10+ years related experience with testing and commissioning services for major Electric Utilities. Absent formal education, 13+ years of relevant testing & commissioning experience for major electrical utility is required. Demonstrated ability to both read and understand construction and manufacturer's drawings and specifications as well as schematic diagrams Strong knowledge of electrical protection systems, including relay communication; understanding AC and DC schematics, wiring and drawings, one line and three line interconnection diagrams Prior professional experience in medium and high voltage substation and power plant equipment. Perform basic apparatus testing and interpret test results with supervision. Solid testing and commissioning knowledge of substation utility protection and control circuits, including relays. Perform commissioning activities and interpret results with supervision. Strong knowledge of commissioning methods to accurately conduct and document commissioning activities. Current US work eligibility is required together with a Valid USA driver's license issued by state of residence and in good standing is required Must be available for out-of-town travel of up to several weeks at a time Must be available work flexible hours, weekends, overtime holidays and night work Must have excellent verbal and written skills and be able to communicate and negotiate effectively with clients and Team Physical Demands -- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
