Job Duties & Accountabilities
Typical Duties of the Feed Mill Maintenance Technician:
Preventative Maintenance:
Completion of all routine preventative maintenance (PM) checks, lubrication, etc.
Completion of all PM checklist items and documentation and communicate the status of these at
shift change and team meetings
Communication of any issues identified to Mill Management
Routine Repairs:
Complete any routine repairs in a timely manner and all tasks efficiently and thoroughly with
emphasis on a like new result
Promote safe work habits and maintain a safe working environment
Support of mill activities as time allows
Sustainability and Stewardship:
Ensure that all best management practices are consistent with commonly accepted standards for
animal welfare
Ensure that routine maintenance work is conducted in a manner that safeguards the environment
and maintains regulatory compliance
Inventory Control
Responsible for maintaining spare parts inventory and replenishing stock as used
Responsible for maintaining accurate tool inventory, including maintaining tools to be in a safe and
proper working condition
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1) Knowledge of:
General maintenance techniques.
General understanding of mechanical equipment and its operation.
Basic understanding of computer operations.
2) Skill in:
Following oral and written communications.
Time management.
Organizational skills.
Attention to detail.
Customer service.
Basic Welding and Fabrication preferred.
3 Phase Electrical Knowledge preferred
Basic understanding of mechanical troubleshooting, inventory management, and industrial gear boxes
preferred.
3) Ability to:
Follow verbal/written instructions.
Work both independently and in a team environment to accomplish goals.
Desire to learn new skills and technology systems.
Possess a strong work ethic, desire to work as a team member, and respect for their peers
