Job Title: Director, Architecture
Employment Type: Right to Hire (Potential for Direct Placement for the Right Candidate)
Location: Newark, NJ (Hybrid - 2 Days Onsite per Week)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a Director of Architecture with a blend of technical architecture, strategic planning, and governance experience. This role will involve leading cloud initiatives, conducting tool rationalization assessments, and guiding technology investments to support the company's transformation. The ideal candidate will have a generalist background (not from Infrastructure Operations), significant cloud experience, and a proven history of working in mid to large-sized organizations, preferably within the healthcare sector.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Development:
Define cloud strategy and assess tool rationalizations, identifying gaps and opportunities.
Evaluate current contracts and technologies (e.g., VMware) and propose alternatives with a clear assessment of pros and cons.
Develop business cases and proposals for future technology investments.
Team Leadership:
Manage a small team of 5-6 direct reports, focusing on grooming and mentoring them for success.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:
Work closely with Infrastructure, Information Security, and Data & Analytics teams.
Assess and modernize Horizon's legacy systems, developing pathways to a future state.
Senior Leadership Interaction:
Communicate effectively with senior leaders, including regular interaction with C-suite executives.
Present technical proposals and strategies to influence business decisions.
Qualifications:
Technical Expertise:
Extensive experience in technical architecture, with specific expertise in cloud technologies.
Ability to develop technology strategy, conduct tool rationalization assessments, and build strong business cases.
Experience/Knowledge:
In depth knowledge of complex architecture patterns including Microservices, Container platforms, API's, Data engineering platforms, Data Lake, Cloud Data Warehousing, Robotic process automation.
Experience in developing cloud strategy and business case and migrating on-prem applications to cloud
Understanding of Hybrid Cloud solutions and experienced in integrating public cloud into traditional hosting/delivery models
Leadership and Team Management:
Proven ability to lead and mentor a small technical team.
Strong leadership skills, with the drive to transform and innovate within a growing organization.
Communication and Presentation Skills:
Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Experience engaging with senior stakeholders, including C-level executives.
Industry and Company Experience:
Experience in mid to large-sized companies; healthcare industry experience is highly preferred.
Personality Traits:
Self-starter with a proactive mindset, capable of driving change and securing needed investments in technology.
Location Requirement: This position is based in Newark, NJ, with a hybrid work schedule requiring 2 days onsite each week.
