We are currently seeking an Assistant Mine Supervisor to join our team. This is a full-time, permanent position with our Atlantic Operations based at our Touquoy mine in Middle Musquodoboit. Reporting to the Mine Supervisor, the Assistant Mine Supervisor is responsible for assisting with the daily activities of Mine Supervisors as required, ensuring safety, efficiency and quality of work in all areas of Mine Operation.
Ensuring and monitoring safety in the workplace by identifying and addressing hazards, participating in improving safety and ensuring all reporting requirements are completed.
Applying all applicable regulations, codes and company standard operating procedures.
Identifying safety issues and potential hazards, assisting with development and implementation of corrective actions and controls.
Promoting safety and efficiency in all aspects of your work.
Training and coaching mine operators in all tasks assigned to them, checking that work is being done safely and rectify any unsafe acts or conditions.
Assisting with the development and auditing of Field Level Risk Assessments, Job Hazard Analysis, Field inspections, Standard Operating Procedures.
Ensuring that only authorized and adequately trained workers operate tools and equipment.
Following security procedures to protect company assets.
Responsible for the inspection of the mine and surrounding work areas during the shift.
Covering for the Mine Supervisor when the Mine Supervisor is away from their duties.
Documenting all aspects of daily operation, corrective actions, operational changes, team coaching, behavioral issues etc.
Assisting mine operators in troubleshooting operational and mechanical issues.
Interfacing with Mobile Maintenance team, Mill Operations Supervisor, Grade Control Geologists and Engineering as required to ensure mining and throughput targets are reached in a responsible and safe manner.
Ensuring that all ore blocks are being mined efficiently with minimal dilution.
Reviewing FLRA cards pre-op log sheets and any other Mine Operator report inputs for quality and accuracy, take corrective action if needed to maintain KPIs.
Preparing shift reports and time sheets.
Working with the maintenance team to achieve efficient equipment performance and reliability.
Championing continuous improvement, implementing applicable best practices and encouraging Mine Operators to strive for excellence in their job performance.
Following notification escalation protocol in downtime events and incident reporting.
Ensuring all incident response guidance is followed, assist in incident management and investigation as required.
Requesting support from other departments as required to achieve and maintain safety, design and production targets. Escalating denied requests to Mine Management.
Communicating production plans, deadlines and KPI's to all operators.
Taking ownership of the weekly plan and set tasks based on the plan.
Assisting the Mine Supervisor in planning and managing the workload of mine operators to achieve desired results.
Conducting Cross-Shift handover meetings before leaving worksite.

At least 3 years relevant operations experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English).
Familiar with provincial, industry and local health and safety, and environmental regulations, as they relate to processing and mining operations.
Basic computer skills
Previous experience in a supervisory role is considered an asset.
